"A psychiatrist is a fellow who asks you a lot of expensive questions your wife asks for nothing." - Joey Adams

Random Playlist Song: Trevor Pinnock - The English Concert and Choir: Handel - Messiah - For Unto Us A Child Is Born (chorus)

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called wonderful, counsellor, the mighty god, the everlasting father, the prince of peace.

Random Trivia bit: Vitruvius, an ancient Roman writer on architecture of the 1st century B.C. included much on the orientation and position of drainage systems of buildings in his 10-volume compendium called 'De architectura'.

Marcus Vitruvius Pollio, was much admired by later writers on architecture such as Alberti and Palladio. Not only were the Romans concerned with drainage for buildings, they also had developed a fantastic system of underground sewers, called 'cloacae' very early on. The main drain of Rome was called the 'Cloaca maxima' and parts of it are still in use in the modern era. It's important to note that parts of Rome were built on swamps, so drainage was of tantamount importance!

Violent protestations at my dissing of Singapore Idol:

"Agagooga, see you at the grand finals next year! Oh wait, those who can do, those who can't whinge."

"Agagooga, you must be a very good singer right?... or you believe you are a good singer??"

"Agagooga - you're constipated. go home and cry to your mummy because you're just a bathroom singer. ooh sly has another new friend!"

"It is so sad to see such a brilliant mind become so clouded with the delusion that Singapore is ALL crap.
*sigh*
He'd most probably migrate asap.

Can't people live in hope?"

If inability to do better than those one criticised damned critics, movie, music, book and indeed reviewers/critics of all sorts would all be out of a job.

Besides which, the truth of a statement like this does not vary with its utterer.

Just because I am Singaporean does not mean I must slavishly and mindlessly endorse all things Singaporean, regardless of their merits.

I hope I did not prick the hopes and aspirations of those who live vicariously through their Singapore Idol.

Damnit. I urge everyone to try this quiz.

"This quiz does not condone pedophilia, but rather attempts to point out the hipocracy (sic) of America. Don't worry, the quiz contains fully clothed celebs.

Parents: Please keep your kids from wearing hot pants and belly exposing shirts. It's giving me and every red blooded American male a woody. We can't help it. We have penises."

I wanted to nail 2/5. One female friend got 3/5 (but many false positives, because she wanted to be safe, not sorry), another got 1/5. A male friend got 3/5 (only because he "recognized the Keira Knightley cleavage shot early on", so his "licentious knowledge served [him] there") and another got 3/5.

She who got 1/5 on her secret: "can tell lar. young girls got baby fat and undeveloped boobs"

Meanwhile, one girl I sent the URL to said she was going to go make gingerbread men. Wth?!

Meanwhile this Kontraband Movie about a guy whose life goes downhill after a friend sends him an email with a link to a farm sex site saddened me much more than it amused me, which in turn surprised someone (guess I'm not so heartless after all, heh heh).

I've come across not a few quotes from Robert G. Ingersoll and others of the same, or similar persuasion. But this one is new:

And yet this same Deity says to me, "resist not evil; pray for those that despitefully use you; love your enemies, but I will eternally damn mine." It seems to me that even gods should practice what they preach. (A Selection of Robert G. Ingersoll Quotations)

I can just anticipate the counter to that. Ah well.

Free Handwriting Self-Test Handwriting Analysis Graphology

For once, this is quite accurate, even despite the fact that I never write cursively and so my cursive writing is stilted and unnatural, being the style taught to me in Primary 4 (I think). So maybe just as clothes maketh the man, so too does handwriting.

*The tails of the lower case letters g and y have a medium loop*
Gabriel has a healthy imagination and displays a fair amount of trust. He lets new people into his circle of friends. He uses his imagination to understand new ideas, things, and people.

*The tails of the lower case letters g and y look like fishhooks*
Something is incomplete in Gabriel's life. He feels frustration relating to his physical needs and desires. Somewhere in his life there is some disappointment, non-fulfillment, and interruption. This is very likely to relate to Gabriel's sexual needs.
Reading the analysis of the handwriting of 2 others who did this test, I noticed that they got this result also. I think most people would write some of their y's like this. Freud would describe everyone in this manner, so maybe that explains it.

*The t-bar crosses the stem halfway up or a bit higher. Just at above the top of the "m" or "e" letters.*
Gabriel is a practical person whose goals are planned, practical, and down to earth. This is typical of people with normal healthy self-esteem. He needs to visualize the end of a project before he starts. he finds joy in anticipation and planning. Notice that I said he plans everything he is going to do, that doesn't necessarily mean things go as planned. Gabriel basically feels good about himself. He has a positive self-esteem which contributes to his success. He feels he has the ability to achieve anything he sets his mind to. However, he sets his goals using practicality-- not too "out of reach". He has enough self-confidence to leave a bad situation, yet, he will not take great risks, as they relate to his goals. A good esteem is one key to a happy life. Although there is room for improvement in the confidence catagery, his self-perception is better than average.

*The humps of the letter m are curvy and rounded on top*
Gabriel is a cumulative and procedural thinker. He likes to have all the facts before making a decision. He thinks or creates much like a brick mason, stacking fact upon fact. His thought pattern or the conclusion will not be complete until the last fact is in place. Like that brick wall, Gabriel learns faster through visual demonstration than through quick verbal instructions. Once he has learned new material, and understood it, he won't forget. Gabriel is a methodical thinker, therefore he is able to build things and come up with new ideas. In an argument, he often loses to rapid thinking people because he is thinking thirty minutes later about what he should have said. These people often are very booksmart, but can be out-gunned in a rapid fire verbal debate. He may learn new ideas at a slower pace than other "less detailed" people, but once he gets it, he can handle repetition. Some people hate jobs with too much repetition, he can handle it better than most.

*There are no inner loops in the lower case letter o. The letter is just clear and clean. The o does close at the top.*
Gabriel will be candid and direct when expressing his opinion. He will tell them what he thinks if they ask for it, whether they like it or not. So, if they don't really want his opinion, don't ask for it!

*The height of the stems of the lower case d and t is both retraced and taller than normal*
Gabriel will demand respect and will expect others to treat him with honor and dignity. Gabriel believes in his ideas and will expect other people to also respect them. He has a lot of pride.

*Handwriting is generally vertical, with very little noticable slant*
Gabriel uses judgment to make decisions. He is ruled by his head, not his heart. He is a cool, collected person who is usually unexpressive emotionally. Some may see him as unemotional. He does have emotions but has no need to express them. He is withdrawn into himself and enjoys being alone. The circumstances when Gabriel does express emotions include: extreme anger, extreme passion, and tremendous stress. If someone gets him mad enough to tell him off, he will not be sorry about it later. He puts a mark in his mind when someone angers him. He keeps track of these marks and when he hits that last mark he will let them know they have gone too far. He is ruled somewhat by self-interest. All his conclusions are made without outside emotional influence. He is very level-headed and will remain calm in an emergency situation. In a situation where other people might get hysterical, he has poise. Gabriel will work more efficiently if given space and time to be alone. He would rather not be surrounded by people constantly. In a relationship, he will show his love by the things he does rather than by the things he says. Saying "I love you" is not a needed routine because he feels his mate should already know. The only exception to this is if he has logically concluded that it is best for his mate to hear him express his love verbally. Gabriel is not subject to emotional appeals. If someone is selling a product to him, they will need to present only the facts. They should present them from a standpoint of his sound judgment. He will not be taken in by an emotional story about someone else. He will meet emergencies without getting hysterical and he will always ask "Is this best for me?"

*Handwriting is not particularly large or small. Medium or not noticeably large or small.*
People that write their letters in an average height and average size are moderate in their ability to interact socially. According to the data input, Gabriel doesn't write too large or too small, indicating a balanced ability to be social and interact with others.

So now everyone knows how to manipulate me for their purposes. Hurrah.

(For all you know I could have filled in rubbish for all the choices, so I can fulfill any devious and cunning plots hatched against me. I love reverse psychology.)

NS sure beats NUS as a tool of social engineering. Although you are entitled to your own opinion, I take great umbrage at the idea that those who chao keng have poor attitude.

Army life is not for everyone. Individuals have their own interests and being a good soldier does not equate to being a good person. In fact, those who chiong are often the most dogmatic and intolerant people I have seen.

I have friends who chao keng out and spend their nights volunteering at hospitals. Those who got out of BMT and represented the country at international forums...etc. There is nothing to be ashamed of with chao kenging.

The reason why most females find it intolerable is that vicarious emotions of NS is no substitute of the real thing. THe main torture is not physical, but mental as you are forced to do mind-rotting activities and watch as you waste away isloated from the real world.

Cheers,
SKH

Junxiong just tried to con me into thinking that there was a new Arts GEM being offered next term called "Living with Christianity". Bah.

"The devil must be stronger than God cuz he is always about, lying to me and tempting me, so they say...but as for JC and his dad....not a whisper....go figure." - Hahaha.

"I have read all about the economic trinity versus the ontological trinity but besides giving me a migraine I did not come away with much except that man is capable of some extremely abstract thought." - Sounds like my experience on reading essays on trans-world depravity.

Homeless Ethiopian Teenagers on why they don't care about getting AIDS:

"We are homeless. We are orphans. We don't know where our next meal is coming from. If we can have sex and feel good doing it, and forget about our miserable life here, it doesn't matter if we die 10 years later from some strange disease."
